Roman Numerals

Today, the 8th May,2008 some learned teachers of a School expressed that they are finding it difficult to make their students friendly with Roman Numerals. On interacting with them following chart was evolved:

Romans used the following symbols for writing of numbers:

Rules for writing numbers in Roman Numeral form:

A string of letters means that their values should be added together. For example, XXX = 10 + 10 + 10 = 30, and LXI = 50 + 10 + 1 = 61.

If a smaller value is placed before a larger one, we subtract instead of adding.

On the bases of the above, we may write the numbers from 1 to 100 in Roman form as:
